Ingredients
  

Earl Grey Tea Mixture
  • 2 cups water for steeping tea
  • 4 teaspoons Earl Grey tea leaves or 4 tea bags
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar for sweetening tea
Mascarpone Mixture
  • 1 cup mascarpone cheese room temperature
  • 1 cup heavy cream cold
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar sifted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Ladyfingers Layer
  • 24 pieces ladyfingers savoiardi
Garnish
  • 1 tablespoon cocoa powder for dusting
  • 1 teaspoon grated lemon zest optional

Method
 

Prepare the Earl Grey Tea
  1. Boil the water in a saucepan. Once boiling, remove from heat and add the Earl Grey tea leaves or tea bags. Steep for 5 minutes.
  2. Strain the tea to remove leaves or remove tea bags. Stir in granulated sugar until dissolved. Let cool to room temperature.
Make the Mascarpone Mixture
  1. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the mascarpone cheese, heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.
Assemble the Tiramisu
  1. Dip each ladyfinger briefly into the cooled Earl Grey tea mixture, ensuring they are soaked but not soggy.
  2. Layer half of the soaked ladyfingers in the bottom of an 8x8 inch baking dish.
  3. Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers.
  4. Repeat the layers with the remaining ladyfingers and mascarpone mixture.
  5. Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.
Serve the Tiramisu
  1. Before serving, dust the top with cocoa powder and sprinkle with grated lemon zest if desired.
  2. Cut into squares and serve chilled.

Notes

For a stronger tea flavor, you can increase the amount of tea leaves or steep for a longer time. This dessert can be made a day in advance for better flavor development.
