  • 2 beef tenderloins
  • 2 sweet onions
  • ¼ cup maple syrup
  • 1 ½ tbsp grainy mustard
  • ½ cup beef broth
  • 2 tbsp olive oil (divided)
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 2 tsp kosher salt (divided)
  • ½ tsp pepper (divided)
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp dried thyme
  • ¼ tsp paprika
  • ¼ tsp poultry seasoning
  • 1 tbsp balsamic vinegar
  • ½ tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 garlic cloves (minced)

Instructions

  1. Trim silver skin from beef tenderloins and season with kosher salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, thyme, paprika, and poultry seasoning. Let rest for at least 45 minutes.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, melt butter with olive oil and add sliced onions. Cook until soft and golden brown.
  3. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  4. Combine maple syrup, grainy mustard, minced garlic, balsamic vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, and remaining seasonings in a bowl.
  5. Sear seasoned tenderloins in a hot skillet until golden brown on all sides.
  6. Deglaze the skillet with beef broth; add the sauce mixture and reduce slightly.
  7. Place seared tenderloins over caramelized onions in a baking dish; pour sauce on top and roast for 15-20 minutes until internal temperature reaches 145°F (63°C).
  8. Allow to rest for 10-15 minutes before slicing. Serve over caramelized onions.
