Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 packet instant yeast (2 1/4 teaspoons)
  • 1 cup warm water (110°F or 43°C)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 23 fresh jalapeños (diced)
  • 3 garlic cloves (minced)
  • Fresh parsley or chives (chopped)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, salt, and instant yeast.
  2. Gradually add warm water and olive oil until a soft dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth.
  4. Place in an oiled bowl and cover with a damp cloth. Let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour until doubled in size.
  5. While rising, combine cheddar cheese, jalapeños, garlic, parsley or chives in another bowl.
  6. Once risen, punch down the dough and roll it into a rectangle on a floured surface. Spread filling evenly over the dough and roll tightly into a log.
  7. Place in a greased loaf pan and brush with melted butter. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for about 35 minutes until golden brown.
