  • 1½ tsp dry baker’s yeast
  • 3½ cups all-purpose flour
  • ⅓ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 egg (room temperature)
  • ⅓ cup melted butter (cooled)
  • ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ⅔ cup brown sugar
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • ⅓ cup softened butter (for filling)
  • ⅔ cup powdered sugar
  • ¼ cup heavy cream
  • 1 tbsp cocoa powder

Instructions

  1. Mix lukewarm milk and yeast; let sit for 5–10 minutes.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, cocoa powder, and salt; mix well.
  3. Add egg, melted butter, and milk mixture; knead until smooth for about 3 minutes.
  4. Cover dough and let rise for 1.5–2 hours until doubled in size.
  5. Prepare the filling by mixing brown sugar, cocoa powder, cinnamon, vanilla extract, and softened butter.
  6. Roll out dough into a rectangle; spread softened butter and sprinkle filling on top.
  7. Roll tightly into a log; slice into 9–11 pieces and place in a baking dish.
  8. Let rolls rise again for 30–60 minutes until puffy.
  9. Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C); bake for 20–25 minutes until golden brown.
  10. Cool slightly then drizzle with glaze made from powdered sugar, cocoa powder, and heavy cream.
