  • 1 large onion
  • 56 cloves garlic
  • 1 1/26oz cans tomato paste
  • 128oz can crushed tomatoes
  • 128oz can tomato sauce
  • 1/2 cup apple vinegar
  • 2 tsp. Italian seasonings
  • 2 tsp. oregano
  • 1 tsp. fennel seeds
  • 1/2 cup fresh chopped parsley
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 tbsp. sugar (optional)
  • 1 tsp. garlic powder
  • 30oz ricotta cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Romano cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated mozzarella cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup fresh chopped parsley
  • 1 pound par-cooked lasagna noodles
  • 2 cups mozzarella cheese (for topping)
  • Parmesan cheese (for topping)
  • Romano cheese (for topping)

Instructions

  1. In a large pan, brown the ground beef over medium heat; add diced onion and minced garlic until softened.
  2. Stir in tomato paste, crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, apple vinegar, Italian seasoning, salt, pepper, and simmer for 30 minutes.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine ricotta cheese, mozzarella (reserve some for topping), egg, and parsley.
  4. In a baking dish, layer sauce, noodles, meat mixture, and cheese mixture until all ingredients are used. Top with remaining mozzarella and Parmesan.
  5. Cover with foil and bake at 375°F for 60 minutes; uncover for the last 15 minutes for a bubbly top.
