  • 3/4 cup white whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg

  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 6 Tablespoons butter (cold and cut into pieces)
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chopped apple
  • 1 cup confectioner's sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a large bowl, mix together all-purpose flour, white whole wheat flour, brown sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, and salt.
  3. Cut cold butter into the dry mixture until crumbly.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk milk, egg, and vanilla extract; then combine with dry ingredients.
  5. Fold in chopped apples gently.
  6. Drop spoonfuls of batter onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  7. Bake for 11-13 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Prepare glaze by whisking confectioner's sugar with milk and vanilla extract.
  9. Brush glaze on warm fritters and broil for an additional 2-4 minutes until golden.
